25 Million Stitches: One Stitch, One Refugee Exhibit
Wisconsin Museum of Quilts & Fiber Arts
The exhibition embodies the enormity of the world’s human displacement crisis and creates an intimate understanding of the sacrifices and stories of refugees through expressions of solidarity, community, and hope. Conceived, organized, and curated by @jkimsohn , a multidisciplinary artist and activist, the 25 million stitches are bound to 407 muslin banners, each 14’ long.
The documentary features interviews with museum staff, artists Jennifer Kim Sohn and Noora Badeen, and two local Wisconsin stitchers about why they participated in the project. The video is available for viewing, free of charge, on the museum’s YouTube Channel.
Milwaukee-based Plum Media produced and created the video documentary for the project, which has been nominated for Outstanding Achievement for Human Interest – Short & Long Form Content; Outstanding Crafts Achievement for Graphic Arts/Motion Graphics/Art Direction/Set Design; Outstanding Crafts Achievement for Editing – Short Form Content; and Outstanding Crafts Achievement for Photography – Short & Long Form Content.
Say nOPE To Hunger
Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin
SAY NOPE TO HUNGER this holiday season by donating to Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin. 2023 has been yet another challenging year for so many Wisconsin families. The cost of food continues to rise due to inflation, our food pantry partners are experiencing increasing demand, and more and more of our neighbors are just scraping by. This holiday season, we ask that you consider wrapping a different kind of present by giving the gift of a warm holiday meal to someone in need. Every buck donated during Food for the Holidays will provide four healthy meals to families in Wisconsin. Be like Charlie Berens and show your Midwest nice by providing meals to your neighbors in need. Visit FeedingAmericaWI.org/Holidays to get involved.
